Secretary Rollins announces the new resource after dropping trespassing charges against South Dakota farmers.
Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced the launch of an online portal last week through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) website. The portal allows farmers and ranchers to file claims related to “unfair and politically motivated lawfare originating under the Biden Administration.”
Secretary Rollins highlighted the decision by President Trump’s administration to drop trespassing charges against Charles and Heather Maude. Under President Biden’s administration, the U.S. Forest Service had brought criminal charges against the South Dakota couple over fencing that was allegedly blocking the Buffalo Gap National Grasslands. The government claimed that the couple extended their cattle and hog operations into the protected area.
“The Maudes are not criminals. They have worked their land since the early 1900s and something that should have been a minor civil land dispute that was over and done with quickly turned into an overzealous criminal prosecution of a hardworking family that was close to losing their home, children, and livelihood,” said Secretary Rollins stated. “This case, and the many others that are currently under review, shows that this Administration is fully committed to ending government regulation by prosecution.“
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for Secretary Rollins as she manages the USDA and oversees all its agencies.
- For Attorney General Pam Bondi as she evaluates pending cases held over from the previous administration.
- For Americans who experienced punitive legal cases against their farms or ranches filed by the government.
